Jab Tak Hai Jaan – Movie Review

Love is not a deal, love is a feeling, love means emotion, love means attachment. This is what Yash Chopra said in most of his movies. He passed away on 21st October this year, but his last gift in the form of film is out! Jab Tak Hai Jaan! It will make you laugh, it will make you cry. This is perhaps India’s last ‘true romantic movie’.

Filmed in the  beautiful locations of Ladakh and London, Jab Tak Hai Jaan  is a love story with a twist which keeps two lovers away from each other for 10 years. But at last they meet again, forever!

The lead character is Samar Anand (Shahrukh Khan) who is a struggling Indian working as a waiter, and part time fish market salesman in London. His life takes dramatic turn. He comes back to India and joins the Indian Army’s bomb defusing squad in Ladakh.

Women play an important part in giving shape to the society. Yash Chopra’s heroines have always been the mirror of society. They have changed with time, right from Rakhie in 1978s Trishul to Karishma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997).
There are two leading ladies in Jab Tak Hao Jaan; both represent different sections of the society. Meera (Katrina Kaif) is a British Indian, who believes in religion and God. She likes to go to the Church and confess about various aspects in life.
Akira (Anushka Sharma) is a typical Indian Delhi girl (like most of the Indian girls) who believes in ‘sex first and love later’. She works as a trainee documentary filmmaker for Discovery channel.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan’s characters are well placed, some dialogues are heart touching. The music haunts you even when you come outside the theater.
I will not disclose the complete story and spoil your fun! I am not SRK’s fan, I love and support good movies. I watched it today, I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed a lot. As a part of audience, I will give this movie -5 out of 5.
This is a once in a life time opportunity, as Yash Chopra is no more with us.
Watch it with your family and friends!
This is my ticket
(Updated on 9th October 2015)
Here are two scenes from the movie that deserve your attention-
Scene 1

Scene 2

This is not a story of courage; it’s not a story of miracles.
This is just a simple story of love, undying love that a man had for a woman.
Unflinching love that a woman had for a man
An unending faith that God had in their loveLove that breaks you, but still keeps both of you together
Love that creates distances, but still brings you closer.
Love that is true and forever
If you have the power to love like that, then God makes sure that your love finds its way.

Because it’s his time to live life, his wait is finally over.
His time has come, his time, to love.
