Amit Ramesh Musale, a partner in Shree Balaji Associates, has alleged in his complaint that Nutan Maneshwar Gonehali collected Rs. 11, 34,000 for paying various taxes and swindled the said amount.
The court ordered the police under CRPC 156/3 to investigate the matter. Shivaji Nagar Police Station (Ambernath) has registered the case (FIR: 0211) accordingly, and cops are investigating the matter further.
The complainant said that accused Nutan Gonehali met him for the first time during 2013 when she paid a booking amount of Rs. 13, 80,000 and booked a flat in one of his projects. She claimed to be a CA and suggested she could help his firm in firm registration, accounting, and taxation matters.
The victim wanted to pay his as well as the firm’s income tax for 2013-14 after the due date. Thus, the accused even suggested he can do so by merely filing an affidavit on stamp paper worth Rs. 500.
Gonehali collected ID proofs, photographs, and other documents from the victim Amit as well as his brother along with their signatures on a stamp paper to do the job. She assured them she would visit 02/04 Income Tax Office in Kalyan and complete the procedure. The firm paid her Rs. 11, 34,000 towards various taxes via multiple cheques. During the same year, the accused requested Musale to cancel her flat booking and refund the advance paid towards the same. Musale obliged and returned the amount via RTGS.
In January this year, Amit Musale got the shock of his life when he came across a notice from the Income Tax Department at his old office. The note suggested his firm has failed to file returns for the year 2013-2014, and 2015. After failing to get an appropriate response, the victim was left with no other option but to approach the court for getting the FIR registered. Ambernath police are investigating the matter.
