Industry experts and critics may not quickly recall-Ishq Forever, a romantic comedy that was released on February 19, 2016. The film had attracted a lot of attention due to its music.
Shabbir Boxwala of Mohra, Gupt, Dil Ka Rishta and Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota fame had written and produced the same along with Ajay Shah, Harry Gandhi. Directed by Sameer Sippy, the film was kind of comeback for music director-Nadeem Saifee (from Nadeem-Shravan duo) as well as for music director Viju Shah who had worked on the flick’s background score.
Film’s lovely romantic tunes still register an impressive number of plays on various music streaming apps and sites. Comments written on YouTube’s Ishq Forever Audio Jukebox are good enough to elaborate how this album has proved to be nothing less than a musical treat for Nadeem-Shravan duo fans.
Ishq Forever’s music was like a test of Nadeem’s mettle as he had stayed away from Bollywood for a long time. One of the critics rightly pointed out, the film’s music offered a perfect combination of modern orchestration, old school music, and talented singers.
The list includes Palak Muchhal, Jubin Nautiyal, Neeti Mohan, Nakash Aziz, Javed Ali, Shreya Ghoshal, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Siddharth Mahadevan and Sarosh Nanavaty. Its title song, Ishq ki Barrish, and Bilkul Socha Na were much appreciated.
Nadeem’s music proved to be above tracks composed by current generation rookies whose songs can be used by farmers to drive away wild animals from their fields.
According to reports, two songs featuring Sonu Nigam’s voice were recorded with other singers at the behest of the music company. Those two songs-Ishq ki Barrish and Happy Birthday were later leaked on YouTube. Just check the number of views and comments on both tracks.
Movie’s songs are popular even today, on the film’s first anniversary.
“I would like to thank all the fans of Ishq Forever who have supported us right from the beginning,” said producer Shabbir Boxwala while sharing his opinion about the popularity of the film’s music after a year.
Critics found a lot of similarity between Ishq Forever and Hollywood rom-com Chasing Liberty. Almost everyone appreciated Javed Jaaferi and Lisa Ray’s contribution.
Ishq Forever also made it in the headlines because it was banned in Pakistan. Their censor board probably banned the film because of one brilliant and an undoubtedly witty scene featuring Raza Murad (head of terror outfit) that does not even name Pakistan. This was sad news for hundreds of Nadeem’s fans in Pakistan.
The film featuring Krishna Chaturvedi and Ruhi Singh in the lead roles did not get enough theaters because it was released with Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja, Direct Ishq, and Love Shhuda. In some cities, surprisingly, Ishq Forever was not even able to get a single theater. Sources suggested that preference was given to Love Shhuda and Neerja. Distributors definitely deserve to face the wrath of Nadeem Saifee as well as Viju Shah’s fans as the latter’s background score in the film also went unnoticed.
Ishq Forever definitely deserved more attention because of efforts put in by every individual in the cast and crew.
One year has passed since the film’s release today. Music lovers are anxiously waiting for Nadeem’s next. There are rumors that the composer is working on Suneel Darshan’s next, but nothing has been confirmed as of now.
