Séparée magazine has recently managed to attract eyeballs of women in Germany. It is the country’s first erotic magazine made by women and for women. The magazine is available on newsstands since 2014.
Séparée magazine’s publisher Ule Gliwa recently interacted with reporters and shared some interesting facts about the magazine. She pointed out that there are many magazines that show nude, half-nude women. But men appear mostly in suits, and in some cases, just without their shirt. No one shows men completely naked. Séparée magazine has dared to walk against the wind.
Germany’s decency laws restrict the magazine from publishing or rather “revealing” too much. If they do so, the magazine would be tagged as pornographic. This would reduce the magazine’s sales.
The 43-year-old publisher believes that the society has ignored female perspective since several decades. The magazine aims to make women feel good about themselves.
Currently, Séparée has around 1000 subscribers. The number of subscribers is increasing every day. Perhaps, girls love the smell of print edition. Five editions of Séparée have been published till date, and publishers are able to make enough for their bread and butter as well. Ule Gliwa suggests that it is time for women to take more control, make their own demands, and respond to their own needs.
Each edition features images of a muscular man, wearing almost nothing. Most of the men do not appear like models, they look more like guys next door. The magazine also publishes erotic stories, inspirational images, and product tips. It appeals to feminine fantasies, passions, and desires.
